Rainy Day Antics
Woke up to a rainy and cozy California winter day today. The girls slept in pretty late so I had a lot of me time this morning. Did some yoga and had my coffee before anyone was awake-I knew it was going to be a great day with a start like that! :)
Once we all had breakfast we made our way to the table where we opened this new subscription box. I read it was an artsy way to learn math concepts. As a first box we really liked it.
We learned about fractals and the handout about coding reminded me that a couple of years ago my youngest tried Scratch-the free learn how to code site for kids. She said she wanted to try it again. So we got all logged in and she spent a good hour making her own coding animations. During this time, Miss 13 was busy making AI generated art to add to her Red Bubble account. She also spent some time sculpting a new cute critter.
We then took turns learning the spelling lesson for the day. At the beginning of this school year the girls and I agreed that they wanted to improve their spelling. They both had started to find themselves in situations where the didn't know how to spell something and they wanted to improve on that skill. After some research I settled on the All About Spelling curriculum. I and they really like it because the lessons are short and easy to follow.
The rest of the afternoon we cuddled up watching a movie. I feel like the rainy days give us permission to go extra slow and I'm not complaining ;)!
